Don Short has fashioned a career in the visual arts through a diversity of creative applications: art instruction, mural painting, decorative paint finishes, art commissions, and design concepts. His portfolio of artworks is housed in numerous venues including public parks and centers, commercial restaurants, hotels, hair salons, private businesses, and many residential homes.
His recognition within the province of Newfoundland results from specialization in the production of large mural paintings that exhibit high detail and quality paint techniques. Fine art training, graphic design, and visual perception culminate in his work resulting in enjoyable, relevant images that are well received by the public at large. Grants and awards confirm this as well as the high volume of work engaged by the artist.
Don has carved a secure niche within the teaching community; his authenticity and gift for communication have yielded remarkable results in the classroom and studio. With over 150 community courses taught, he remains actively engaged in developing skill and expression within the individual.
He studied art and design at the Ottawa School of Art and the Granton Institute of Technology. In his commitment to life-long learning, Don is currently enrolled in Memorial University's diploma program in Post Secondary Education.
